Help understanding voltage, please?

I was researching what voltage is and I found out that 1 volt equals 1 joule per coulomb an I found out that Joule is energy and coulomb is charge, so if i rephrased what I wrote then it would become 1 volt equals one energy per charge which doesn't make sense to me, please help me understand it
