I have a malfunctioning USB port, how do I fix it?

A new puppy chewed the USB cable from my printer to a port on the backside of my PC. This caused a failure of my power supply. I have disconnected the printer and put in a new power supply. Everything works fine but I get a continous prompt stating there is a power surge on a USB port. There is nothing running of any USB's and I have successfully used my IPOD at every available port. However, the bubble keeps popping up saying "Power surge on USB port." Wont go away. Is there a way to disconnect a USB port?
