How to make a music laser show without buying expensive supplies?

I am trying to make my own music laser light show but the problem is that i can not seem to find inexpensive equipment for that. i have asked several laser show organizations or companys for their opinion on how to make my own show. they have showerd me books,projects,etc with info on this but it does not seem to help. i really need some useful tools or info that will help me with this. i realize lasers are a hard subject but i still need some good ideas for this!! please let me know what is possible!
